So, running a blog is hard, even one as small as this one.
It’s difficult to post regularly when you’re a full-time college student with a part time job, and I know I’ve missed posting things that I really wanted to because time got away from me. So, this post is here to try and make up for that.
We’re still going, we’ll still be posting, but this is a sort of recap of what I, personally, have missed posting on. So, here it goes.
Twenty One Pilot’s Vessel combines peppy electro pop with aggressive rap to create an album that keeps interest over and over again. The self-deprecating and introspective lyrics are catchy and strike a vine of truth which gives a sense of satisfaction post listening. This is indie rock with an occasional hip-hop vibe with lyrics that will leave you feeling less alone, hopeful that all the difficult things that make up life will be alright in the future. The album is an eclectic mix of genres that flows phenomenally together despite that the individual tracks wide range from semi acoustic ukulele to electro – pop to the more aggressive raps.

The up and coming four piece band, Free Radical, came out with “Prelude” a beautiful instrumental song that sounds like Explosions in the Sky had a baby. “Prelude” was coupled in the release with “In My Head” an indie rock song more typical of trippy garage rock sound that is Free Radical, Native to the outskirts of Chicago the fuzz rock band has easily earned the parental advisory warnings slapped on their cover art, but even still the poppy hooks, trippy guitar solos and over all instrumentation makes the rest of their album Irrelephant, which was released earlier this September. Great for staring at the ceiling and simply doing nothing. I’m not sure what will come of them, but you can listen to “Prelude” below.

The Canadian indie rock group Islands released the single “Wave Forms” earlier this heat wave of a summer as a sneak peak to their upcoming album Ski Mask. Since their debut album, Return To Sea (2006), which was partially recorded in Jamie Thompson’s bedroom, Islands has had a few makeovers. The band has over twice the amount of former members as it does current members and is now based out of Los Angles – but with what is going to be 5 albums by the end of 2013 it seems like the core of Islands is going strong.

Alex Turner’s voice is butter- flavorful, gorgeous, practically melting hearts.
